CAYLC U-13 overcame some inclement weather to take down teams from traditional powers
Long Island and Baltimore this past weekend. They finished the rain-shortened tournament with a 2-1 record and won their division.
In the first game the boys overcame an early deficit and a late goal from James Bellew along with some timely saves from Tim
Viere helped them hold on for a 6-5 victory. In Saturday's second match-up an early offensive outburst courtesy of the
attack play from Jack Stell and Walker Cross got CAYLC out to an early 4-1 lead. Jeffrey DeAlmeida and Clayton Hansen anchored
a stout defense that only gave up 2 goals on the afternoon as CAYLC moved to 2-0. Weather forced the schedule to be adjusted
and the team's third game was played on Sunday. After falling behind 5-0 at the half, the boys responded by scoring 4
of the games final 6 goals, including 3 from Stewart Staunton but came up short in the comeback bid 7-4/ The team really came
together and is using this past weekend's success as a spring board into upcoming tournaments.
